Black Read Sundays!

Dream Deferred Press presents the first Black Read of the Month, "Young, Gifted, and Black" by Lorraine Hansberry. Lorraine Hansberry, author, playwright, and a highly influential African American Woman of the 50s & 60s known for her well produced "Raisin in the Sun". Which was one of her most popular works that represented the real and authentic lives of a African American family with dreams and who encountered struggle and hardships. You may be familiar with either the new version featuring my favorite actors Phylicia Rashad and Sanaa Lathan or the older version featuring the well known Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee. This book Young Gifted & Black depicts not only Lorraine's life, but a well defined stance on what she experienced in her creating process and the true meaning behind these proclaimed works . I hope to inspire you all to consider this for your 2015 reading list, I can personally say; being halfway through it, that it is magically inspiring.
Be on the look out for more Black Read Sundays!
